Imagine having a deep and difficult conversation with your loved ones which enables acceptance and forgiveness while freeing you all from shame, sadness, and dysfunction.

Imagine what it would feel like to be the chain-breaker in your family.

But what if you don’t want to have that conversation? Or it isn’t possible due to bereavement, estrangement, or adoption (or any other reason for that matter)?

Family Constellation Therapy makes it possible to do the work regardless of the many reasons you might not want, or be able to broach difficult issues with your family.

You don’t even have to KNOW who your family is.

In today’s episode, I speak to Family Constellations Facilitator, Sound Therapist, Yoga and Pilates teacher, and talented singer/songwriter, Karis Bunney, who has been constellating me for the past 18-24 months.

Constellating your family system can not only reveal the root cause of some of the issues and beliefs that burden you, but allow you to forgive and heal generational wounds, so you are liberated from the “disturbances” of the past, enabling yourself and future generations to continue on a pathway of growth.

During this episode, Karis explains what happens during a Family Constellation session, how it works, how it can free you, and theorises on the magic that makes it all happen.

We also candidly share our personal experiences and invite you to think about how this transformational, transgenerational therapy could benefit you and your future generations.

Ask yourself:
➡️ Have you been caught in a feedback loop, repeating past patterns with no idea WHY it is so deeply ingrained in your subconscious?

➡️ Do you recognise unhealthy behaviours/ideas/beliefs you want to change but don’t know where they are rooted?

➡️ Are you conscious of repeating family patterns and desperate not to make the same mistakes your parents/relatives did?

If you answered yes to any of the above, this episode is for you.

Karis Bunney is a Sound Therapist and Voice Activation Coach, Family Constellation Facilitator, Yoga and Pilates Teacher (@YogaBunney) and singer-songwriter, who has worked with students and clients internationally for over a decade.

At my Saturn return, one aspect of my life was (thankfully) grinding to a permanent halt, as another area was sparking into life – my first inkling of this was my interest in the beginner’s astrology course at the London School of Astrology.

I was apprehensive – I wasn’t sure what to expect and as a Capricorn with a Venus–Saturn square, I was nervous to invest my time and money in something so ‘unconventional’.

So, I picked up the phone and had the first conversation I would ever have with my mentor and the principal of the LSA, Frank C Clifford who immediately put my mind at ease. I decided to sign up to the first term and ended up staying for four years!

Frank was the first teacher I ever had who truly captured my imagination and guided me through such a complex area of study with such passion and experiential knowledge, it was impossible not to be completely riveted.

I have so much love for Frank and his kindness and generosity. I can’t even begin to imagine what my life would be like had I not made that call all those years back!

Below is a short and sweet Q&A with Frank, which he completed in 2018.

Will you share your big three?
Aries sun, Virgo moon & Gemini ascendant.

How would you describe yourself?
I’m my own person. Integrity and generosity are important to me.

What type of astrology do you practice and how many years have you been practicing?
Humanistic astrology. Started teaching myself in 1989; consultations from 1994; teaching/lecturing from 2002.

Are you typical of your sun-sign?
In many ways. But: I have lots of patience when teaching, I don’t have a fiery temper, and I don’t forgive easily. I’m trying to work on the last one.

What attracted you to astrology and your particular area of interest?
Understanding myself and then understanding everyone around me.

Which areas would you like to learn more/study give more time to?
So many areas to research. Give me three lifetimes and I’ll get it all done. Actually, I want to be learning well into my nineties.

Which zodiac and house system do you use and why is that your preference?
Tropical. Equal. They work well with forecasting and natal analysis.

If you could travel back and experience any transit again, which would it be and why?
Pluto on the Descendant with the foreknowledge that it was ok to be myself.

What is the most satisfying thing about being an astrologer?
Helping people have that ‘aha’ moment, which leads to living a more authentic life for themselves.

What’s your favourite song and your favourite era of music?
I grew up in the early 1980s so I love that era.

What were you like in high school?
Quiet, unadventurous and shy, and longing not to be.

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
The Staircase (Netflix), which reminded me of the strength we all have inside of us … although the film is about a miscarriage of justice, which makes me feel sick to my stomach.

Which 4 guests (dead or alive) would you invite to a dinner party and why?
Linda Goodman (to share her magical, other-worldly insights), Martina Navratilova (to show me courage and how to win), Anthony Robbins (to get to the heart of how we can all help ourselves – I have newfound respect for him) and I’d pick one of my favourite singers (to share stories and tunes with us).

What 3 courses would you serve your guests?
Whatever they wanted to eat that wouldn’t stop the flow of conversation.

What’s the last book that you read and your favourite book?
I’m always reading biographies. Just finished one on the death of Natalie Wood, the witty life of Beryl Reid, and re-read the story of the Supremes by Mary Wilson.

Do you have any advice for the new student astrologers out there?
Yes! Find a teacher who wants you to be the best astrologer and person you can be.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Yes. I’m proud of what you’re doing, Stefanie.
⬆️ Aw shucks! Thank you Frank, your support means so much to me. 😊

How would you like people to connect with you?
Politely 🙂 as I try to be when connecting with others.

Please include a Bio here
Hmm. There are lots of bios online from various conferences I’ve given. Just facts, places and publications. A CV of sorts, not the real me. Most importantly, I’m a son, brother, uncle, husband, lover and friend. I’d like to be remembered as someone who supported those who needed it, and someone with a wicked sense of humour who could always find a funny side to life but who, when necessary, could be serious and kind and earnest.

Frank Clifford is a British astrologer and palmist who has been writing and lecturing on both subjects for 30 years. He has run the popular London School of Astrology since 2004. In 1996 Clifford founded Flare Publications, and since then he has edited and published over two dozen astrology books.

In September 2012, at the annual Astrological Association Conference, Clifford became the thirteenth (and youngest) winner of The Charles Harvey Award for Exceptional Service to Astrology.

During my tumultuous 29th year, I started googling Indigo Children as my awareness was raised to the phenomena and a friend of mine told me I ticked quite a few ‘Indigo’ boxes.

That’s when I found Mary’s website. She had written a lot about Indigo children and I was intrigued as I had the chart shape which indicated I might also be one.

So I booked myself in to have a consultation with her, and honestly? I’ve never looked back.

My inquisitive Gemini Ascendant had so many questions, so Mary encouraged me to join her beginner’s astrology course. Obviously I loved it, and ended up taking my learning to the next level with Frank at the LSA.

Mary has years of experience working as an astrologer, homeopath and hypnotherapist, and can offer practical solutions to real-life problems.

I’ve received hypnotherapy from her, as well homeopathic and flower remedies for my ailments – all of which I found massively beneficial.

I’ve also proof-read a couple of books for Mary: How to believe in a Sagittarius and The Astrology of Indigo’s, and I’ve given many of her books as gifts!

Mary is an absolute earth-angel and I’m so pleased to have crossed paths with her in this lifetime.

Will you share your big three?
Pisces Sun, Gemini Moon & Leo Ascendant

How would you describe yourself?
Brave, Soppy, Chatty

Describe what you do
Regular Astrology for Real Humans. Been in private practice more than 20 years

Are you typical of your sun-sign?
Yes, but now I’m reformed…

What attracted you to astrology and your particular area of interest?
My Homeopath mentioned something about Saturn Return and that piqued my interest.

After the birth of my son and studying his chart and those of his classmates I discovered the Indigo phenomena and spent the next 10 years writing and researching them.

Which zodiac and house system do you use and why is that your preference?

Equal House. Just because it’s one of the oldest and (for me) looks tidier.

What is the most satisfying thing about being an astrologer?
Working with people and helping them understand that Astrology can give them answers to their questions.

What’s the last book that you read and your favourite book?

I read a lot of books at once, so whatever I say today, will be different tomorrow as I’m an Amazon Vine reviewer, so I read more than 3 books a week.

The genres I read are self-help, hypnotherapy, paganism, nature, and spirituality. My favourite Astrology book (of many) would be Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas.

Do you have any advice for the new student astrologers out there?

Yes: Don’t Panic. It will all make sense soon, just keep practicing 🙂 xx

Name

Marina

Will you share your big three?

Sun Aquarius, Moon Aquarius, AC Gemini.

How would you describe yourself?

I’ve been called ‘Base’. I’d say I’m an old fashioned Saturnian who loves natural law and traditional values.

Describe what you do

Traditional, fixed star astrologer who specialises in the zodiac decans. Self taught since a teenager, but went full time professional in 2009.

Are you typical of your sun-sign?

With a stellium in Aquarius, yes, if you are using Saturn as the ruler.

What attracted you to astrology and your particular area of interest?

Originally because of an interest in psychology and Carl Jung. Later because of learning traditional astrology, visual astrology, horary astrology and becoming interested in the fixed stars. I learnt that astrology was embedded in Christianity and goes so much deeper than we could ever fathom.

Which areas would you like to learn more/study give more time to?

Mundane astrology.

Which zodiac and house system do you use and why is that your preference?

The tropical zodiac, but to answer why would take a book. The whole sign house system because I like the elegance of house=sign, doesn’t get distorted at high latitudes and works very well with traditional astrology.

If you could travel back and experience any transit again, which would it be and why?

Chiron, Jupiter and Neptune on my Mars sticks out as the most memorable transit as that’s when I took up astrology full time and married an astrologer! It was life changing. Not sure if want to experience that again as it was very ‘super natural’, and the relationship burnt out relatively quickly due to long distance. (Jupiter!) Very much a catalyst transit.

What is the most satisfying thing about being an astrologer?

Never ending questions and research about the meaning of life.

What’s your favorite song and your favourite era of music?

Impossible to pick one song. But right now it’s “for no one” by the Beatles. Otherwise love synth pop, new wave, mod revival and two tone from 1979 to 1983.

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?

Charlie the Unicorn. Because he’s Charlie the unicorn.

What were you like in high school?

Annoying rebellious like a typical sullen goth.

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?

Upstairs & Downstairs. Because it was made in the 1970s and untainted by progressive programming.

What’s your favourite film/series/show?

Life on Mars and the follow up Ashes to Ashes

Which 4 guests (dead or alive) would you invite to a dinner party and why?

Mozart, the original Paul McCartney, Anne Boleyn and Manly P Hall. Because they are my heroes or their stories fascinate me (Boleyn) and am interested in the times they lived in. I wonder if there was an “original Paul” so I could ask him…

What 3 courses would you serve your guests?

Prawn cocktail (because it’s so 70s), proper Neapolitano pizza and tiramisu. I’d love to see Mozart eat pizza.

What’s the last book that you read and your favourite book?

Pagans & Christians by Robin Lane Fox was last book read. But can’t commit to a favourite book. Too many. Generally would be a non fiction history one tho.

Do you have any advice for the new student astrologers out there?

Do your own research, until you have loads of clients look at your own transits, keep a transit diary. Look at all your friends charts. Nothing like hands on experience. You can read books of other astrologers but best to develop your own unique take and intuition because in the end people will come to you for your speciality, not rehashed interpretations from other astrologers or schools.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I’m abit of a lone wolf and don’t like “schools” 😉

I am a self-taught Brit-alian astrologer and illustrator based in the UK. 30 years of working with symbols and archetypes form the foundation of my astrological approach.  For reading natal charts, my technique uses the tropical zodiac divided into decans and incorporating the fixed stars.
Aspect patterns are very important to me and represent the sacred geometry of one’s soul. In 2015 I completed a Horary course with Deborah Houlding, owner of the amazing site Skyscript. I am moving more towards traditional techniques since they are based on natural law, visual astrology and make use of the fixed stars.
The name of the site Darkstar is an oxymoron and describes my approach to astrology and life in general. You can only see the stars in the dark of night and we can only become enlightened by going through the nigredo (Blackening) stage in alchemy. This means facing our shadow.
The Lilith (Dark Moon) archetype and Persephone’s journey to the underworld describe the alchemical process very well. The fixed stars take us away from the earth and into another dimension, but it’s important to keep a balance between the heavens and the earth.
