Pisces is a mutable water sign, the last sign of the Zodiac and is ruled traditionally by Jupiter and by modern astrology, Neptune. Mythologically, Gods Neptune and Jupiter (Poseidon and Zeus) are brothers and their association with Pisces is one of limitless hope and faith. Neptune, ruler of Pisces is the ocean, and that includes the volatile nature of the ocean as well as the beauty, tranquility, and its mystery.

Imagine trying to catch a fish in your hands; once you’ve battled with water seeping through the gaps in your fingers you then have to hold on to on the slippery fish which seems to effortlessly evade your grip. This is a metaphor for the mutability of water sign Pisces; they long to move commitment free and they long to escape the captivity of boundaries imposed upon them by the material world and the physical form.

Pisces: Womb with a View

The escapism aspect of Pisces starts with a dream, longing or memory which they can’t quite pinpoint. Pisces’ longing to transcend can be likened to an ice cube in water melting back into its original state. She understands that there is more beyond this life and is very aware of the finite quality of physical existence. Instinctively Pisces yearns to reconnect to that state which it feels born out of – the sanctuary of the womb-like state.

Being born into a world of rigidity, rules and boundaries, Pisces has to learn to adapt and function on this realm which can prove difficult for her to master. Being able to see beyond what Pisces feels is the pettiness of reality, capitalism and hierarchy, it’s difficult for her to want to partake.

Being a sensitive water sign, Pisces is able to pick up on everything around her. The electromagnetic field, or ‘aura’ which surrounds everything is something Pisces can read very easily (whether aware of this or not). She is incredibly intuitive and has amazing psychic ability when developed, though Pisces may choose not to develop this gift and may not be interested in religion or spirituality at all. Pisces may decide to dedicate herself to another cause all together.

Redemption Song

Reaching out and communicating their inner creativity is something Pisceans do so well. They are particularly moved by film, art and music, be it their own or another persons creation. They are able to see the world in poetry, pastel, and watercolour. The mutability of Pisces wants to have freedom to change and amend as it goes – potentially even abandoning a project in favour of starting again with a whole new spin.

Piscean love is eternal and all-encompassing; they believe in connectedness and want to inspire freedom and peace in the world. They are whole-hearted, forgiving souls who want to believe in the good of humanity, no matter how hard they may find it. They can also struggle to believe that people have a malicious streak, so when somebody hurts them or double-crosses them, it can be a real shock.

They feel the pain and suffering which goes on in the world and among the ones they love. Their natural ability to empathise can lead to Pisces feeling emotionally and physically drained, if they do not take measures to protect themselves.

Scaling the Ocean Depths

There is so much depth and unchartered territory in the ocean and this has to be said for Pisces, too. Another dual-sign, the watery Pisces is represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions. This is representative of the the dilemma which every Pisces has to balance. There is a rational and practical side of Pisces, but this is often pulled away by the spiritual, dreamy and romantic side. It is a tug of war between this realm and the next.

This duality lends to the Pisces mood – as changeable as the tides which fluctuate between highly excruciating and emotional states, to humbling awe, wonder and appreciation. True comfort can be sought in chaos and solitude for our fishy-friends. The twelfth house – Pisces’ domain – is the house of resignation, solitude and humanity as a whole. Pisces will need a regular break from the outside world to go into their own little safe-place and be free to hibernate, create and recharge.

The freedom and variation of the source that Pisces connects to is like a hose on full blast with no one holding it – unpredictable and chaotic in nature, with an open expression. Pisces at their best is a benevolent, kind and accepting sign which understands the nature for freedom of expression.

Toxicity in the City

But there is the other side of Pisces which allows itself to get caught up with toxicity and bitterness when the world doesn’t end up being the place that they thought it would be.

Perhaps a good example of the potential toxicity within our oceans, is the brine lake at the bottom of the ocean, aired in the UK in 2017 on the BBC’s Blue Planet II. There is an alluring and hypnotic quality which Pisces is able to use at will and like any superpower, this can be used for good or bad. Pisces is able to manipulate, and it is likely she has learnt this by being manipulated in the past.

NeptunePisces’ modern ruler, Neptune – sea God, ruler of the arts, the silver-screen and the capturing of moments in time (the camera was invented when Neptune was discovered) – is the antithesis of Saturn, father of time and master of the material-realm. If Saturn is the cliff, Neptune is the relentless ocean erodes it. If Saturn is the ink which permanently marks the page, Neptune is the spillage which blurs the definition. Saturn is the cruel hand on the clock of life, precious moments passing. Neptune is the photograph, the nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses which hold the memory free of decay and ruin.

The thing that Pisces has no problem with is translating her experiences into an art-form to be enjoyed by others, and communicating through that art in order to express herself. In the same way water is able to blend and saturate, Pisces longs to reach out and colour other people’s experience with her take on life, her passions and her ability to translate this into a non-physical form. Pisces also understands that you cannot own ideas or artistic expression, as ownership leads to stagnation of creativity.

Pisces: Uniter of Souls

Pisces wants us all to connect, not through higher ideals, but through the invisible web which holds us all together in appreciation and harmony. Music as an example, can makes us feel beyond our bodies and can even bring enemies together. It takes us on an adventure and gives us all an experience which we keep forever and never forget; an experience which can’t be bought with coins, but is fully immersive allowing us to travel through time and space in our minds and hearts, with other people who resonate that message.

When the Sun is in Pisces, it can be a time where we need to retreat and get more rest. It could be when we get a cold or feel a little bit run down. However, this could also be a time where we find it easier to create a piece of music, write a poem or just want to sing and dance! There is a romanticism about the Sun in Pisces which can be felt in a big way at this time of year.

So make time for rest, meditation and reconnecting with the silence. From that silence, listen for the source of inspiration, where the sound of Pisces comes from, and understand that the less you try to own it, the easier it becomes to engage with it.

AquariusIt is at the point of the Sun’s ingress into Aquarius, that most of us are struggling with the debts of previous months whilst suffering with the January blues. But there is a lighter feel to the month when the Sun’s journey through Aquarius commences. Aquarius is a fixed sign, and the eleventh sign of the zodiac. The imagery conjured when I think of fixed air is a room with all the doors and windows closed and no way of fresh air getting in and circulating. It can be stuffy and stale – a little bubble all to yourself. Aquarius can get fixated on specific areas of life, ideals, and mindsets.

Having said that quirky Aquarius can be incredibly progressive in their way, or on the opposite side of the spectrum, ridiculously archaic. Traditionally ruled by Saturn (which co-rules Capricorn), and Uranus by modern rulership you can get very serious, straight, no-nonsense and traditional Aquarians, as well as the unusual, Uranian, rule-breaking and cutting-edge types. They tend to break down the image that Capricorn strives for and identify with a more humanitarian and inclusive outlook as far as order and government are concerned.  From the onwards and upwards attitude of Capricorn, Aquarius wants to make the top spot accessible to all people. They can be stubborn and rebellious, refusing to acquiesce with hierarchy and authority.

A good old-fashioned debate is something Aquarius enjoys as they are able to explore a subject and look at it from a new perspective/dimension. They likes to step away from their ideas and examine them as though they are an object that can be turned, observed and analysed. They aren’t afraid to change their mind either, once they have exhausted their research and have satisfied themselves intellectually.

Aquarius is the water bearer: a boy holding a vessel pouring what appears to be liquid. As a result many people confuse Aquarius for being a water sign, but he couldn’t be farther from the watery–feeling realm; he lives in the realm of concept, ideas and analysis. What is actually being poured from the vessel is the cosmic energy of awareness, awakening and revelation: the gift of clear vision, the lightbulb moment – “Eureka!”

Aquarius: Born to be wild

UranusOriginal Aquarians with their outsider way of being and thinking aren’t being intentionally oppositional. Far from it! Aquarius is concerned with truth and won’t compromise their integrity in order to keep the peace or please their peers. When young they wish they could fit in and agree with everyone else. When they try by altering their behaviour and opinions, they are outcasted for being in-genuine. When it comes to the outcasted group, Aquarius won’t fit in with that either.

This doesn’t mean that the way Aquarius sees life and thinks isn’t relevant; sometimes they can be so far behind the status quo that they are actually ahead of the next trend waiting in the wings! Those that are ahead of their time, are often ridiculed and made to feel stupid because they don’t fit the generic cookie-cutter mould. This can be said for those with a prominent Uranus in the birth chart too.

Campaigner for individuality

On the plus side, unique Aquarius can mix with a variety of groups, cultures, ideals, creeds and religions; Aquarius is interested in people, and humanity as a whole. Your Aquarian/Uranian friends are likely the ones you can go people watching with: observing people and contemplating their lives, what makes them tick and wondering what must be going on in their heads. Logical and objective, Aquarius enjoys conceptualising and analysing situations and people.

SaturnAt times, it can be difficult for Aquarius to forgo analysis in favour of an emotional connection, though this is not to say that they don’t know how to relate to people. Aquarians are loyal creatures and don’t lean towards the phrase ‘blood is thicker than water’. They tend to have a large social circle as they have a knack of picking things up from where they left off, without having to maintain constant contact.

I’m not trying to compare Aquarians to mutants, but the students at Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters in the X-Men films find themselves in a position where they have a unique and special power but for years they don’t understand how to harness it. When they understand and develop their individual qualities they are able to put their mark on the world and fight for a humanitarian cause, a lot like Aquarians. In fact, the school and it’s concept is a very Saturnian–Aquarian with an 11th House feel, with the emphasis on a community of mutants focussing on self-mastery whilst maintaining individuality. The 11th house is the house Aquarius rules.

Being conceptual, Aquarians are associated with being technologically savvy, though I have an Aquarian friend who is a technophobe. Remember – they won’t ever fit your expectations – Aquarians are the embodiment of unpredictability. Using the medium of the internet and social media we are now able to find groups online where we can connect and discuss new ideas with people, share with our ‘Facebook family’ and become a well known figure in our online community or carving out a community of our own.

When the Sun is in Aquarius it is a great time for finding a way to express your individuality in some way, doing something where you can connect to your group which allows for freedom of expression of the skills that make you, YOU!

CapricornThe Sun’s ingress to Capricorn marks the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere which we experience as the shortest day of the year. This is where the Earth’s wobble reaches it’s farthest point before the North Pole starts tilting toward the Sun again.

Party season is still in full swing when Capricorn appears. Her arrival isn’t a total buzzkill – she turns up just before Christmas and the New Year to help us celebrate the festive period which coincides with the alignment of Sirius ‘The Dog Star’ and “The Three Kings” in Orion’s belt (on December 24th).

Once partying has concluded, Capricorn asks that we do the dreaded deed of checking our finances and returning to the grind. When the Sun is in Capricorn we get real, adopting a serious attitude and resolving to conquer our bad habits. Capricorn gives us the opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start over, in anticipation of the exciting new horizon beyond December 31st.

Capricorn’s Elevated Status

Capricorn is a dual sign: half goat, half fish. Able to inhabit both land and sea, her primary area of focus is mastery of the physical realm. This is something realistic and methodical Capricorn learns over many years in order to produce tangible results. The ocean dwelling half of Capricorn is intuitive and flexible. Able to understand structures and strategy, the added intuition gives Capricorn incredibly astute foresight and the ability to adapt. Like chess players, she’s always three moves ahead of everyone else.

The early years for Capricorn may be challenging, to say the least. Often there will be knock-backs or struggles with some kind of imposed limitation. The Saturn Return is a time when we all have to grow up; in Capricorn’s case, she will come into her own and firmly establish foothold in her life.

Goats are an incredible mountaineers. Able to scale sheer cliff faces and climb the deadliest of drops, They’re always aiming for the highest peak! The strategy involved when scaling a mountain requires concentration, commitment and extraordinary vision. I’m talking visualising goals here, not a trip to Specsavers!

Capricorn is able to see an objective, and work around it in order to get to the top. She knows she may have to recalculate the route sometimes, but this doesn’t stop her from trying. Capricorn’s mantra is: “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again” and they are all too aware of how far they have to fall. Regardless, this is all very metaphorical as the challenges Capricorn faces in daily life won’t always be mountain climbing (though in come cases it will be!) but actually about achieving in some way. Perseverance is key for Capricorn, and this is how she conquers her ambitions knowing lasting success doesn’t happen overnight.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

So why is Cappy driven to the summit? Capricorn is a Cardinal Earth Sign; Cardinality is the drive to push through to new horizons, instinctively able to percieve what the environment requires. Earth is an element which is driven to manifest inspiration, concept and emotion into a tangible end product. Capricorn seeks the respect of those around her. She wants to be an authority figure, if not working as an authority like a police officer or judge, then to be seen on the top of the pile in her chosen (or accidental) profession. Taking the easy road isn’t something Capricorn does. Usually she will opt for the tougher lesson and work all the hours to accomplish her goal. The knowledge that she has done all the hard work by herself is enormously rewarding, and her peers will admire and respect Capricorn for her achievements.

Capricorn isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and muck in at the bottom of the career ladder. She understands the more hard work you put in at the beginning, the more your colleagues will recognise her and refer to her knowledge when facing an issue. Soon there will be an opportunity for promotion… and the climb begins!

A word of advice, Cappy: When climbing, be gracious and fair – if you lose your footing you will bump into everyone you encountered on the way back down. People remember how they have been treated; not a problem if you were considerate and kind. If you were bossy, obnoxious and rude, they may well give you a taste of your own medicine!

True Grit and Determination

Ruled by Saturn, the word “No” is something Capricorn will have been issued repeatedly, often with an explanation about how not having that cookie, or going to that party will benefit the little goat. Of course we all need boundaries growing up, but young Cappy will test these and push back, before settling for the rules.

Self-discipline and hard work is something which comes over time. Capricorn has to master these areas and may be a little work-shy and lacking in direction as a youth (often leading to depression). Productivity is required in order to feel good; if this is lacking she can feel worthless.

Capricorn buys into the system. She understands hierarchy and wants to climb up the ranks. She may not have always been that way, but develops a respect for boundaries, structures and the need for governance by laws, as she understand that rules really do help to keep her in line. This is because Capricorn really struggles when in an unboundaried environment and can fall into unproductive and negative behaviour patterns. She likes to have firm lines to work within so she knows which way is forward.

Rules, authority, respect – despite striving for the stuff your parents used to lecture you about growing up, Capricorns aren’t boring! They understand how to get through tough times, deal with challenging situations and scale the obstacles that would stump the average Joe. Often with a dry, satirical sense of humour, observational comedy tends to be a gift of Saturnian types in general and their sarcastic, dead-pan delivery can really brighten the gloomiest of days.

SagittariusThe Sun’s ingress to Sagittarius, is graced with an infectious and exuberant joie de vivre, marking a welcome shift from the stagnant and murky depths of Scorpio. The uplifting and buoyant charm of Sagittarius can be felt almost immediately. A Mutable Fire sign, Sagittarius deals with challenge by travelling, bending and adapting. Think of the rippling plasma on the surface of the Sun: a restless ocean of fire complete with tidal waves and golden loops of magnetic activity. The Sun may rule Leo, but the behaviour of the surface of the Sun is very much akin to the essence of Sagittarius and the way he moves through life.

All the Mutable signs coincide with the transitional seasons. Mutable Fire sits between the damp decline of Autumn (Fixed Water Scorpio) and the cold depths of Winter (Cardinal Earth Capricorn). The yearly cycle is waning into the Winter or seeding phase as the Earth moves farther from the Sun. The visionary Centaur sees the bigger picture and understands that everything in life is in a state of constant flux.

Great Expectations

There is an uplifting and fertile feel at each point the Sun traverses the Fire signs: Aries season coincides with Spring where chicks hatch, seedlings sprout and the cycle of new-life is born. The Sun is in Leo at the height of Summer; the energising affect of the Sun has the population flocking to sunny spots and beaches to bask in his glory. During the Sun’s spell in Sagittarius the air is filled with a sense of hope and optimism. Thanksgiving, Chanukah and Christmas are in clear view on the horizon and the promise of party season lifts even the darkest of spirits. The hype, the multi-million pound seasonal adverts on television and the shops stocking up for the big rush – it’s all so Saggy! Even the thriftiest types (says this Capricorn) feel the urge to indulge to great expense. The anticipation and excitement which can be observed is a Jupitarian and Sagittarian spectacle: the expectation of what might be.

This is a time where excessive behaviour is the norm. We know we will have to pay for the consequences of our actions later, but decide to live in the moment. There is a tendency to gain weight at this time of year and Sagittarius is associated with excess, growth and expansion. No waistline is safe! Reflecting the season’s mood, negativity, doubts and grudges are relinquished, letting bygones be bygones. Sagittarius likes to believe in the best-case scenario and whilst the Sun is in Sagittarius even the most pessimistic of folk will experience a more trusting attitude toward situations they would normally approach with caution. However, there can be an inability to exercise control as boundaries are something Sagittarius wants to push through and keep going with no restrictions!  As a hybrid (half-man–half-horse) the dual nature of the mythical Centaur strives to balance basic animalistic instincts and human limitations. When the Centaurs’ bow and arrow is pulled back and released, the direction in which the arrows fly is indicative of how energy radiates from this sign: onwards and upwards!

Sagittarius and the Search for Significance

Sagittarius is generally considered to be a lucky sign as the ‘greater benefic’ Jupiter, is its ruling planet. If you can be philosophical about the things that happen in your life and you are able to see a deeper meaning or overarching theme, does the luck shine through from the core of Sagittarius as a type of perspective? Or do events line-up to bless natives with strong Sagittarian signatures in their charts? I happen to think it’s a bit of both. I know some Saggies able to philosophise and understand each moment as threadJupiter being sewn into the tapestry of life. I also know some Sagittarius types who are just goddamn lucky! But they do tend to have a positive outlook giving them the whole ‘Law of Attraction’ vibe. You could say which came first, the chicken or the egg? In the same way that this can’t be proved, we can’t prove the existence of God or higher beings but can feel a connection to them if that way inclined. Sagittarius understands that connection regardless of his beliefs, and is able to interpret the meaning from the heavens to the Earth.

Having the vision to see not only the whole situation as it stands, but future implications and the meaning behind the event gives Sagittarius a shamen-like quality. The essence of Sagittarius is to inspire; to equip with knowledge which will enable one to move forward in life and be independent in it’s own way.

Prone to pleasure-seeking in many forms, some Sagittarians will engage in risk-taking behaviour to experience each moment in all it’s glory. Some sociable Centaurs come with an entourage – fair-weather friends who they trust will be there after the party is over. They have faith in the good of humanity and  people who like to be around them due to their generosity and partying ways. Blind optimism and a belief in the quintessential happy ending can lead to disappointment or irresponsible actions and with their non-committal and boundary-pushing attitude, Saggies can be seen as gamblers. This can be gambling by taking unnecessary risks, or as literal as placing a bet. The Centaurs’ hooves firmly planted on the soil, he likes to be reminded of his connection with a higher power by pushing Earthly boundaries. this can lead him down a darker path than expected. These situations can open up a direct dialogue with God, whomever that may be to the individual. Some of you may relate if you have ever had to look beyond the rational, say a prayer or make a plea-bargain with the big man. I know I have.

Visionary, Preacher, Traveller, Teacher

This great faith can be channelled in many ways as Sagittarius is elevated in spirit – this doesn’t have to be a spiritual or religious (though it can be), but an experience which expands their horizons both physically and mentally. You might know a Sagittarius who is an atheist. They may inspire others to share their vision, or believe in their cause. The reason they are able to inspire others is because what they do has given them purpose. Knowledge is a great love of the Centaur and they travel great distances in order to learn, experience other cultures, and to share their findings. The dream of distant lands, different cultures and new experiences is something Sagittarius longs for. Travelling, movement and a change of scenery invigorates Sagittarius; there’s always something new to see and learn. Their passion, thirst for knowledge and ability to express themselves in a fun and exciting way makes them great teachers or preachers, depending on which career route they decide to take.

I am grateful to my Sagittarius friends: for their playful and light-hearted warmth, their insight when times seem bleak, and for teaching me how to let-go and party! The saying goes: “Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die”, and my Sagittarius friends have taught how to let go of negativity. Viva la Centaur!

The descent of the Sun into Scorpio takes it on a journey though the depths of the underworld. I have to admit, Autumn is my favourite season. The reds, burnt oranges, yellows and browns of leaves falling from the trees, landing on the cold damp ground. The seasonal vegetables (particularly squashes and pumpkins) and hearty comfort food – all things associated with this time of year. In England (where I live and am writing this post) the days are shorter and the nights draw in earlier and earlier. This is so much more obvious during this time of year as a result of the Earths’ 23.5º axial tilt away from the Sun. It’s hard to believe the transformation of nature through the seasons; the beauty that autumn brings is a product of deterioration and decay as our planet moves further way from it’s life-giving source of light.

This is Scorpio’s primary area of awareness: the decomposition of life, in order to make way for the new. This doesn’t have to be viewed as morbid – death is very much a part of life. However, Scorpio is more aware of the things that most people would rather ignore. People don’t generally like to acknowledge the loss of innocence. The scorpion has to learn to let go as it moves through experiences which test it’s strength and durability. The transformation from life to death is symbolic of the process in which Scorpio operates. Those with their Sun in Scorpio will be familiar with the potential to transform. An exploration of the darker side of life is inevitable through the transformative process and as a result, your Scorpio friend will be the one who will stick around during a crisis. They won’t spin you a yarn or spout clichés when you are experiencing a personal crisis . They will tell you the truth and give you the support you need; this is their bread and butter! Scorpio can handle a barrage of high tension and dramatic situations – in fact, they thrive on it.

Alluring and Intense Scorpio

Scorpio is a fixed water sign. Think of an iceberg, you can always see the tip above the surface of the water, but below the surface, the iceberg can reach down to the depths. This is the perfect image for Scorpio: What is below the surface is not obvious – there are so many hidden dimensions to this unbelievably deep and alluring sign. Another image I imagine is iron filings being held to a magnet. The force holding them together is the magnetic pulling quality that Scorpio radiates. X-Men character Magneto (played by Sir Ian McKellen) is able to manipulate metals in order to wield power and control over his opponents. Interestingly in his natal chart, Sir Ian has a Mars-Pluto opposition at power degrees (Mars at 0º Aquarius and Pluto at 29º Cancer). Mars is the traditional ruler of Scorpio and has a far more passive, feminine and undetectable expression than it does as co-ruler of Aries. Pluto was discovered in 1930 and was appointed the modern ruler of Scorpio. When these two planets are in aspect, they are exceptionally dynamic and can manifest great power, will and determination. This is displayed brilliantly in McKellen’s role in X-Men.

Face your Daemons

Scorpio intensifies your commitments in relation to others. Shared ownership enters the equation with the eighth sign of the zodiac, for example: buying a house with your partner, and the financial bond holding you with the bank which loaned you your mortgage. There are deeper and farther reaching implications to the commitment. Issues of a superficial quality are not really something the scorpion dabbles in – the occult and life’s mysteries are much more the realm of this cave-dwelling creature. Key words for Scorpio are: honesty, integrity, deeper emotional undercurrents and subtle nuances, deeper meaning.

During the Sun’s transit through Scorpio, it’s a great time to deal with things that normally get overlooked. Time to do the life insurance, pay your tax bill or go over the small print in that contract you have to scrutinise before signing. The Sun in Scorpio shines a light on the the minutest of details and does not drop an issue unless satisfied it is ready to let go. Scorpio is relentless at times; if you have put a task off because you just can’t bear to get involved, not only will you face this daemon during this time, you will be able to complete the task. You will likely become obsessed with doing it properly and find yourself absolutely immersed until it is done!

So when the Sun is in Scorpio, it is in a place where it knows it can’t shine as brightly. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t as important; the Sun is able to bring to light the things in life that don’t normally get a chance to shine, those little creatures under the rock have their own story to tell. Make good use of this time because it can be hugely rewarding. You will welcome tasks that require true grit and determination. Avoidance will not be an option.

The ingress of the Sun into Cardinal Air sign Libra marks the start of Autumn and is the Equinox point. Cardinality is the initiator of the modes; in Air I think of it as being that first breath of cool air when you step out of a stuffy room. It fills the lungs with that much needed freshness and really brings clarity and a sense of alertness to the mind, comparable to the perspective a fresh pair of eyes can bring to a situation.

When the Sun is in Libra, areas of your life that require balance and a sense of equilibrium will be put under the spotlight. Some may find balance through relationships as they learn a lot about themselves through other people and the compromises they are willing to make. Other people may find themselves in resolving conflict in situations where they have to mediate disputes and create harmony.

Now is a good time to look at your relationships and understand where sacrifices might need to be made for the greater good. This will inevitably raise issues of your own worth when trying to understand how far the boundary lies between yourself and your partner. If you have suspected for a long time that there is an imbalance in your relationship and one person is giving more than the other, this is a time to address that issue. Of course, when the Sun is in Libra by transit you will find a diplomatic way of doing so.

By no means is this exclusive to your romantic liaisons; all relationships will be highlighted right now, be it with your colleagues, family, or even your enemies. If you have been feeling overlooked at work and want to be treated as an equal, this is the time to bring it up! If you are being treated like the black sheep of the family, bleat like mad until your voice is heard so you can establish fair-footing! If your friendships have turned sour or your enemies are closer than arms-length, this is the time to kill them with kindness! Libra is ruled by Venus and she can be very persuasive as an attractive seductress and by being able to manipulate situations in her favour. She will do so by convincing you that her idea was actually your idea, and that idea is AMAZING!

If you have been experiencing conflict in your relationships, this would be a great time for you to seek couples counselling. If you are not in a relationship, no doubt this will be a time where you will be thinking about finding that special someone. If you aren’t in a relationship and all that comes on television is repeats of Ross and Rachel getting back together, one of the many chick-flicks out there, or re-runs of Don’t tell the Bride, I suggest watching Frasier – his love-life made my sudden-spinsterhood seem much more bearable!

Aesthetics and beauty will be in focus for you and and during the time the Sun is in Libra you may want to spend time beautifying yourself. think about how you can maintain balance in your life; It’s a great time to indulge with girlfriends and enjoy a spa day, or a pyjama party with face-packs. You might allow yourself a bit of time to enjoy a bath after that jog around the neighbourhood. It’s about striking a balance between tending to the needs of others, and making time for yourself.

It’s time to sort the wheat from the chaff & refine! Virgo is a Mutable Earth sign, able to manage various tasks. As the Seasons begin to shift from Summer to Autumn, Virgo represents a time where the Sun takes its foot off the gas a little for a milder climate.

Ruled by Mercury, those born under the sign of Virgo are able to intellectualise and make sense of their environment by discriminating between what works for them and what doesn’t. As a result of this they are able to refine and perfect whatever they are tasked to do. This makes them brilliant at editing, proofing and problem-solving.

Purification & Authenticity

Virgo’s are happy working for a bigger cause where they are able to assist in some way as they are a caring sign that like to help without necessarily feel the need to lead. Associated with purification and authenticity, during the Sun’s transit through Virgo you may find yourself particularly sensitive to the things that you eat and will be more in tune with your body. This is a great time to give your eating habits an overhaul and take up an exercise routine which helps to balance the body and the mind like Qi Gong or Yoga. Being Earthy and logical, Virgo leans toward intellectual pastimes, though they aren’t shy about rolling their sleeves up and getting their hands dirty. Gardening and working with the earth can be a good way for Virgo to reconnect with the Earth, and Virgo being ruled by Mercury are also very manually dexterous. Any activity requiring a sharp mind and nimble fingers will be something Virgo will find enjoyable – think rubix cube!

Leo is a Fixed Fire sign so is consistent in his nature and inspirational to be around! Leo has a spark which is undeniably infectious and he is very demonstrative in his need to express himself. The sign for natural performers and leaders, Leo will take to the stage like no other and show us how it is done! However if you aren’t a particularly ‘showy’ Leo, you may prefer to be behind the scenes but striving to be the best from wherever you are comfortable receiving the limelight.

Passionate and Fun

Leo allows us to indulge in a different way, in fun and passionate endeavours. This is a great time for us to enjoy being in the spotlight of our own, be it though going out with friends and letting your individuality shine though, or through spending time doing the things that make your heart sing, perhaps through creative activities like playing musical instruments or going to see your favourite band for example. Leo has the staying power and consistency that the fixed signs are famous for, so completing projects and starting new ones which require long term commitment will bode well now. The Sun is in rulership in Leo, so is very comfortable and happy in this sign, allowing effortless expression for the Sun’s time through it’s domicile.

Crabby Cancer the fourth sign of the zodiac coincides with the Summer Solstice. Cancer is a Cardinal Water sign that processes its environment through the feeling realm of emotions. They have an incredibly intuitive ability pick up on what is needed, exactly when it’s needed.

Protective

Just like their crustacean counterpart, Cancerians are tough on the outside, but soft on the inside. Their knee-jerk reaction is to defend and protect their loved ones; if you upset someone a Cancerian loves, expect to face their wrath! Cancer is ruled by the Moon and with the many phases of the Moon, Cancer has many phases of mood. Sometimes Cancer can become fixated on having a career and progressing professionally in order to please others, but is happiest when able to fit into a caring role, and creating a happy home environment for their loved ones. Cancerians are very creative and excellent home makers and often they are good at cooking, or enjoy food!

Fast-paced and flexible Gemini processes his environment through ideas, communication and discussion. He could be accused of being non-committal, but it’s difficult to give your full attention to one thing when the world is your oyster! Getting a bad reputation for being ‘two-faced’, Gemini has been known to get involved in idle gossip, but only when he allows himself to slip into bad habits.

Wordsmith

Ruled by Mercury, Gemini is able to wax lyrical about everything and nothing, often having an impressive general knowledge. A great networker, Gemini can juggle many tasks at once and is a dab-hand at spotting patterns. Adept at coping with change, the Twins can offer a fresh perspective and enjoy questioning around a situation in order to understand it. Gemini is a lover of the spoken word and strives for understanding.
